The Media's Spin?

I'm just going to start off highly outraged because blogs seem to always be filled with passion and feeling. ok, here it goes. Who twisted the first amendment's freedom of speech and freedom of press so far as to exploit individuals to gain readers or viewers. It makes me completely sick to know that legitimate news programs constantly report on irrelevant, unimportant celebrity issues. This doesn't seem like such a big deal on dedicated tabloid programs like Access Hollywood, but it's easy to see there is a major problem at hand when Fox News and CNN spend a minimum of 2 hours a day speculating what Tiger Woods might say at his press conference the following day. I can only imagine the impact that particular story made once he finally did speak at the conference. This incredibly dim-witted content shows nothing positive for consumers, members of the media, or the celebrities being covered. Since gossip columns have become mainstream, the line between reality and fiction is slowly but definitely thinning. The main appeal of the tabloid is the bold lettering describe scandalous events and somehow people always are tempted to buy them despite the ominous future they are creating for our contemporary media outlets.

I agree. CNN spends alot of time on stuff thats not real news.
Wow! I couldn't agree more with these statements. Although I must admit that I sometimes get sucked into the cyclone of celebrity gossip, I also realize how unimportant it is when compared to the real problems plaguing today's society. Too often real news is overshadowed by what is happening in the fantasy world of Hollywood. We should all take a step back and really think about what these types of signs are telling us about today's detached society.
